2016 PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium – Call For Abstracts and Posters
On Monday 7 March 2016, PDAC, SEG Canada Foundation, Goodman School of Mines, and the NSERC-CMIC Exploration Footprints Network – in cooperation with Student Leaders from the Laurentian University and Ottawa-Carleton Universities SEG Student Chapters – will host the 7th Annual “Student Minerals Colloquium” (SMC) in the Ballroom of the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The SMC will include up to 100 poster presentations highlighting current research on mineral deposits and related studies by students across North America.
All students (BSc, MSc, PhD) working on projects with a link to mineral deposits (mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, environmental) are encouraged to participate. Submissions from PDFs and RAs will be accepted, but preference will be given to BSc, MSc, and PhD students, should space be limited. This event attracts hundreds of industry participants who attend PDAC and will provide the widest-possible exposure for your work.
Abstracts:
All posters must be accompanied by an abstract, which will be published electronically in a format that is citable and which will be posted to the PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium webpage. Abstracts must be submitted as .docx files in the following format; any abstracts not received in this format will be rejected.

Abstract Text (12 point Times New Roman, single paragraph, no indent, single spaced, 400 words maximum). No figures. No tables. No references.
Abstracts will be reviewed and only those that are free of errors will be accepted, so students should prepare their abstracts well ahead of time and have their Supervisors review them. Abstracts must be submitted online at http://cmic-footprints.ca/smc/submit by midnight on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email.
Posters:
Posters must be submitted as a .pdf or .pptx file online at http://cmic-footprints.ca/smc/submit-poster by midnight on Sunday, February 21, 2016.
Posters must be designed to fit inside a 4′ high x 6′ wide poster panel (maximum dimensions and should be affixed with Velcro® hook material that will permit them to be affixed to felt-covered boards.
Posters must be put up before 11:30 am on Monday, March 7, 2016 and MUST NOT, under any circumstances be taken down before 7 pm that evening.
The senior student author MUST be present between 4 pm and 6 pm on Monday, March 7, 2016. Cash prizes will be awarded at 6 pm and only to students who are present during the time interval. See details of the 2015 event at http://cmic-footprints.ca/smc/2015
