ioGAS Tutorial Workshop – December 3
ioGAS Tutorial Workshop – Department of Earth Sciences
Date: December 3, 2014
Location: Willet Green Miller Centre
Price: Professionals – $135
Students – $50
As part of the GEOL 5806 modular course in Exploration Geochemistry, we will be offering a 1-day tutorial on December 3, 2014 in the use of the ioGAS geochemical-statistical analysis and visualization software. It will be taught by Dr. Pim van Geffen (MSc, Utrecht, PhD Queen’s), Senior Geochemist at REFLEX, the developers of the software, in the Willet Green Miller Auditorium on the Laurentian University campus.
The tutorial is free for those enrolled in the course, but is offered at a reduced rate of $135 for professionals and $50 for students, which includes course notes, coffee, and lunch. Students should note that the department has a Site License, so they will be able to use ioGAS at no cost in their course work and research.
If you are not familiar with ioGAS (flyers attached, more information on ioGAS.net) it is much better than Excel (generates triangular plots, allows multiple data series to be quickly clicked on and off, provides much more accessible statistical analysis tools such as histograms)< includes more discrimination plots than IgPet, links live with goCAD and LeapFrog 3D visualization software, and exports to GoogleEarth, MapInfo, and ArcGIS. It is the tool of choice for geochemists in academia and the mineral exploration industry, so a valuable tool for exploration geologists and students planning on working in the mineral exploration industry.
