Peru Delegates visit Sudbury to Experience the Sudbury Success Story Firsthand

A delegation of Peruvian government officials, mining company executives and university researchers are visiting Sudbury (August 12-16) to take part in a workshop Building Environmental Strategies hosted by the Goodman School of Mines at Laurentian University in partnership with Core Foundation.

Laurentian University has played a significant role in working with government, industry and the community to remediate Sudbury’s environment over the past 50 years. With government regulation, scientific monitoring and community engagement, Sudbury reached the goal of green mining while transforming the environment for the benefit of a healthy region.

The Peruvians will attend presentations from key individuals who have been a part of the successful remediation story over the past 50 years with talks by Laurentian University faculty, industry experts and key members of the community.

This is our first step in building strong partnerships with the various universities, government and industry members in Peru and work together to replicate the Sudbury success story in other regions of the world.
